Varithena Treatment – North-East Philly, Bucks County & Hamilton NJ.

What is a Varithena™ procedure?

During a Varithena™ treatment, a doctor or vein specialist injects a foaming solution into the veins that are not functioning properly. Varithena™ foam is used to treat the symptoms as well as the appearance of varicose veins. Though the doctor may numb the area for the patient’s added comfort, the treatment is minimally invasive. It does not require surgery or incisions.

How does Varithena™ treatment work?

Varithena™ vein treatment is used with either direct injection or a catheter. The Varithena™ foam expands to fill the vein so it collapses. Later, the diseased vein is broken down and absorbed by the body, and the blood flow goes to other healthy veins instead. The whole process usually takes under 15 minutes, and patients go home the same day.

Will I have side effects or changes to my normal activities?

After a Varithena™ procedure, you might have some pain or discomfort at the site as your body heals. In most cases, any pain will subside within one week of the treatment. You will need to keep bandages on for 48 hours and compression stockings on for a few days after the treatment.

Avoid heavy exercise for one week after the procedure. It is recommended that you walk for ten minutes a day and avoid long periods of not moving for a full month after the treatment.

When will I see results?

You may see results in just one Varithena™ treatment. Depending on the size and extent of the vein problem, you might need more sessions if the maximum single dose of Varithena™ foam does not fully resolve the vein. In clinical studies of Varithena™ procedures, symptoms such as aching, heaviness, swelling, and itching were reduced in addition to the appearance of the vein.
