Hand Veins and Hand Sclerotherapy

What do bulging hand veins mean?

Hand veins are generally a cosmetic issue and rarely indicate an underlying health problem. As we age, the loss of collagen can lead to veins in the hands becoming more prominent or bulging. Women who exercise frequently or who have less body fat may notice them even more. They may also be more obvious in warm weather. Since the major hand veins are in the palm, the veins on the back of the hands can be closed off or shrunk with no health consequences.

What hand vein treatments are available?

Minimally invasive and nonsurgical options now exist for hand veins. The hand veins can be injected using sclerotherapy with minimal pain. About two hours after the procedure, you can even resume your daily activities. Some patients also receive filler to the hands to contour the skin, which is also available in our vein clinic.
